Shopify and e-commerce development for online stores
devinsta builds and revamps Shopify and WooCommerce stores, plus the custom apps and Klaviyo flows that run behind them.
This page covers Shopify and e-commerce development for owners and store managers who sell on Shopify or WooCommerce, or who plan to move to one of them. devinsta designs and builds storefronts, writes custom Shopify apps, sets up Klaviyo email and SMS, and revamps stores that have grown slow or hard to edit.
devinsta started in 2019. We have offices in the United Kingdom and Lahore, Pakistan, and work with stores in the US, Canada and UK remotely. You own the theme code, the app code and the accounts we set up.
A custom build is the wrong first step for a store with a handful of products and no steady traffic. A stock theme and Shopify's built-in tools will carry you until you can name the limit you have hit. Book a strategy call once that limit costs you orders or staff hours.
Where e-commerce lose time and revenue
A theme patched by many hands
Three freelancers and a dozen apps have each added scripts to your theme. Pages take seconds to load on phones, and your team is afraid to edit a section in case the cart breaks. Nobody on staff can say which snippets still do a job and which ones a removed app left behind.
App subscriptions that overlap
You pay for one app to do bundles, another for discounts and a third for upsells, and they fight over the same cart. Each one loads its own script on the product page. Your requirement sits in the gap between them, so staff fix orders by hand after checkout.
Email that stops at the welcome discount
Your store collects addresses and sends a welcome code, then goes quiet until the next sale. Abandoned carts get one generic reminder. Buyers who ordered once hear the same message as buyers on their fifth order, because nobody split the list by purchase history.
Orders and stock living in separate systems
Your storefront, warehouse tool and accounting package each hold a different stock count. Staff copy orders between them and correct oversells by email. A second sales channel or a wholesale price list doubles that work, and the errors reach customers as late shipments.
What devinsta builds for e-commerce
Shopify website development
We design and build Shopify themes on Online Store 2.0, with sections your team can rearrange in the theme editor. The build covers product and collection templates, metafields for structured product data, and a cart your apps do not fight over. We test on real phones before launch.
Service detailsCustom Shopify apps
Some store rules fit no app in the Shopify App Store. For those we write a custom app for your store, using Shopify Functions for discount and shipping logic and checkout extensions for the checkout page. Shopify limits some of these extension points to Plus stores, and we check your plan first. You own the code, and one app replaces the several you rented to cover one rule.
Service detailsKlaviyo email and SMS
We connect Klaviyo to your store and build the core flows: welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase and win-back. We segment by order count and product bought, so first-time and repeat buyers get different messages. Your team receives templates it can edit without a developer.
Service detailsStore revamps and speed work
A revamp starts with an audit of theme code, app scripts and Core Web Vitals. We remove dead snippets, replace heavy apps where a lighter option exists, and rebuild the templates that hold you back. We tell you if a full rebuild costs less than repairing the current theme.
Service detailsShopify Plus builds and migrations
For stores on Shopify Plus we build checkout customizations, B2B price lists and multi-market storefronts. We also migrate catalogs, customers and order history from other platforms, with redirects mapped from old URLs so search traffic follows you to the new store.
Service detailsWooCommerce development
WooCommerce suits a store that needs to live inside an existing WordPress site or wants full control of hosting. We build custom themes and plugins, tidy slow product queries, and connect payment and shipping providers. We also move stores between WooCommerce and Shopify in either direction.
Service detailsHow an engagement runs
An engagement starts with a free 30-minute strategy call. If you have a live store, you can also request a free site audit, and we send a written report within five working days. From those two inputs we write a scope that lists the pages, apps and integrations in the build, and names the items we left out.
We work in two-week sprints with a demo each week on a preview theme or staging store, so you see working pages before launch day. Code lives in a repository under your account. At handover your team gets the theme, the app code, the Klaviyo account and a short guide to editing each of them.
Compliance and data handling
Shopify's hosted checkout handles card data, and Shopify states that it is PCI DSS compliant, which keeps most of that burden off your store, and a WooCommerce build needs a payment gateway that does the same. Sales tax in US states, GST and HST in Canada and VAT in the UK each follow their own registration rules, so ask your accountant to confirm the settings we configure. Email and SMS need recorded consent, and cookie banners need to match the rules where your buyers live. We build to those requirements in general terms. None of this is legal or tax advice.
Common questions
Should my store be on Shopify or WooCommerce?
Shopify fits most stores that want hosting, checkout and security handled for them. WooCommerce fits a store tied to an existing WordPress site, or one with unusual product logic and a team ready to manage hosting and updates. We ask about your catalog, your staff and your other systems on the strategy call before recommending either.
Do I need a custom Shopify app or will a plugin do?
Start with an App Store app if one covers your requirement without workarounds. A custom app makes sense once you pay for several apps to approximate one rule, or your staff correct orders by hand. We check the App Store first and say so if an existing app does the job.
Can you revamp my store without losing search rankings?
We reduce that risk by keeping URLs where possible, mapping redirects for the ones that change, and carrying over titles, descriptions and structured data. We check Google Search Console before and after launch. Rankings can still move after a large change, and no agency can promise they will hold.
How much does a Shopify build cost?
Cost depends on the number of templates, custom apps and integrations, so we quote after the strategy call against a written scope. Shopify, Klaviyo and app subscriptions are separate and their prices change, so check each vendor's pricing page for current plans.
