Shopify and Klaviyo for skin care brands

devinsta builds Shopify stores for skin care brands, with subscriptions, routine quizzes and Klaviyo replenishment flows timed to each product.

This page covers Shopify and Klaviyo for skin care brands that sell direct to shoppers, and it is for their founders and e-commerce leads. devinsta builds the Shopify store and sets up Klaviyo, covering subscriptions, routine quizzes, bundles, ingredient pages and replenishment flows.

A skin care brand depends on repeat orders. A cleanser runs out, and a reminder in the right week gives the buyer a reason to reorder from you. We build the store and the email program around that cycle. devinsta started in 2019 and works with brands in the US, Canada and UK from offices in the United Kingdom and Lahore, Pakistan.

A brand with one or two products and a small list does not need a quiz or a custom bundle builder yet. Start with a clean product page, a subscription option and three Klaviyo flows. Add the rest once repeat orders show you which products buyers pair together.

Where skin care brands lose time and revenue

Shoppers who cannot pick a product

A visitor lands on a collection of serums and cannot tell which one suits oily or dry skin. Product names describe ingredients the shopper has not heard of. Without guidance the visitor leaves to read a forum, and a competitor with a routine quiz collects the email address.

Repeat orders left to chance

A buyer finishes a moisturizer after two months and hears nothing from you. Your email calendar runs on launches and sales, with no message tied to the date a bottle runs out. The buyer replaces it at a drugstore, and your store paid for a customer who ordered once.

Product claims that create regulatory risk

Your copywriter describes a cream as treating acne or repairing skin, and a reviewer repeats the claim in a quote on the product page. Regulators can treat disease and treatment claims as drug claims. Marketplaces and ad platforms can reject listings for the same wording, and you rewrite pages under pressure.

Reviews and customer photos scattered across channels

Customers post results on social media and leave reviews in an app that shows a star count and little else. Product pages carry no photos from buyers with a similar skin type. Your team has no consent record for reusing those photos in emails or ads.

What devinsta builds for skin care brands

Shopify store for skin care

We design and build a Shopify theme with product pages that show skin type, usage steps and full ingredient lists from metafields. Shoppers filter collections by concern or skin type. Your team adds a product by filling in fields, and the page layout stays consistent across the range.

Subscriptions and bundles

We set up subscribe-and-save through a Shopify subscription app, with a customer portal for skipping or swapping products. For routines we build bundles that sell cleanser, serum and moisturizer as one set at a set price. Stock deducts per item, so your inventory counts stay correct. If no app covers your bundle rules, we build a custom Shopify app for them.

Routine quiz or custom app

A routine quiz asks about skin type and concerns, recommends products, and passes the answers to Klaviyo as profile properties. We configure a quiz app where one fits. If your recommendation logic outgrows it, we build a custom Shopify app that you own.

Klaviyo replenishment and routine flows

We build Klaviyo flows timed to each product's usage period, so a reminder arrives a few days before the bottle runs out. Other flows cover welcome, post-purchase usage tips and cross-sell of the next routine step. Quiz answers and purchase history decide which version each subscriber receives.

Ingredient content and search visibility

We build an ingredient glossary and routine guides as structured pages that link to the products containing each ingredient. Product and article schema help search engines read them. We write to your approved claims list and describe cosmetic benefits, leaving out treatment language.

Reviews and customer content

We connect a reviews app to Klaviyo, so a review request goes out after the customer has had time to use the product. Review forms collect skin type and photo consent. Product pages then show reviews a shopper can filter to people with similar skin.

How an engagement runs

The first step is a free 30-minute strategy call. We ask about your range, your repeat order pattern and the apps you already pay for. For a live store you can request a free site audit, and we send a written report within five working days. We then write a scope and mark the features that can wait.

We build in two-week sprints and show progress each week on a preview theme. Klaviyo flows go live in draft first, and your team reviews each email against your claims list before we switch it on. You own the theme code, any custom app and the Klaviyo account from day one.

Compliance and data handling

Skin care copy needs to stay on the cosmetic side of the line. In the US, the FDA treats a product intended to treat or prevent disease, or to affect the structure or function of the body, as a drug, and a product can be both a cosmetic and a drug. Health Canada and the UK's cosmetics rules draw a similar line, and each has its own notification and labeling requirements. We write no medical claims, we flag risky wording in reviews and quiz results, and we work from the claims your regulatory advisor approves. This is general information, not legal or regulatory advice.

Common questions

Does a skin care brand need a routine quiz?

A quiz helps once your range is wide enough that shoppers struggle to choose, and it gives Klaviyo data for tailored emails. With a handful of products, a clear comparison on the collection page does the same job for less money. We recommend one or the other after looking at your catalog.

Which subscription app should we use on Shopify?

Several subscription apps work with Shopify checkout, and the right one depends on your bundle rules, your markets and your budget. We compare two or three against your requirements and configure the one you choose. App features and prices change, so check the vendor's pricing page before committing.

How do you time replenishment emails?

We start from the usage period you give us for each product size, then set the flow to send a few days before that period ends. Once your store has enough reorder history, you can read the real gap between purchases in your order data and adjust the timing to match it.

Can the quiz or the emails recommend products for a skin condition?

We keep recommendations to cosmetic concerns such as dryness or dullness, in the wording your advisor approves. A quiz that suggests a product for a medical condition risks making a drug claim. We add a line directing shoppers with a medical concern to a doctor or dermatologist.
